Fundraising for Re-Cycle East
2006-7 has been a year of growth for Re-Cycle
... but more funds are urgently needed if we are to continue sending bikes to those in Africa who so urgently need affordable transport to help them earn a living.
Our core funding...
The core funding provided by the Community Recycling and Environmental Development Fund, has ensured the stability we need until the end of 2007, but in order to carry on shipping bikes we need to secure further funding.
Shipment costs are high...
We ask our partners in Africa to meet the freighting costs of each container, but these are a large expenditure – it costs around £2,000 to ship to Ghana, £3,000 to Liberia and so we have found it evermore necessary to contribute towards the shipping.
Many ways to raise funds for us...
There are lots of ways our supporters can raise money for us and every donation we receive will make a difference to the number of bikes we ship in the future.
1. Help secure a grant
You may be a trustee of a grant-making body or know someone who is. If so, please consider putting Re-Cycle forward for a grant. Please contact our office for more information.
2. Fundraising experience
Perhaps you have fundraising experience and could give Re-Cycle some valuable assistance with preparing funding applications. Please contact our office for more information.
3. 'Charity of the year'
Many organisations such as Rotary clubs, school and churches choose a charity to raise funds for each year. Please consider nominating Re-Cycle. Or adopt one of our African projects and help pay towards shipping their container. Please contact our office for more information.
4. Sponsored Events
Ever thought of cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats? Or perhaps a circuit round the local park is more your idea of fun... Whichever it is, it can be an enjoyable way of raising money by sponsorship. Please give us a call or email to discuss your ideas.
Whatever way you choose to help us, it will be a valuable contribution towards
ensuring that Re-Cycle keeps re-homing all those unwanted bikes.
Thank you.
